- In English we say my mother and my father. In French you’d say mon père and ma mère, because words like my and your change based on the gender of the word after them!

Fille and femme
Fille can mean girl or daughter. Femme can mean woman or wife.

Whose kid is this?
- In English, we say Marie’s cat. But in French, you’d switch the word order and say le chat de Marie.

Using nous
- French verbs change form depending on who’s doing the actcion. With nous, most verbs end in -ons.

Au wow!
In French, à and le are never used together. Instead, they combine into au!

Tips
Plural
- Using plural in French works like in English - just add s and it is usually silent.
- Ex: deux chats | two cats.
- Also, le, la and l’ become les. Ex: les garçons

- The verb prendre (take) has an s ending for both the je and tu forms.

Ils and elles
- ills and elles means they for men (or mixed) group and women group, respectively.
- Ills sont étudiant | they are students.
- Elles sont étudiantes | they are students.
Pronunciation
- In many French words, the final consonant is silent. But in some situations, you need to pronounce that sound when it’s followed by a vowel or silent h!. Ex: les hôtels
